Drivers Education Program

The Drivers Education program is a free, 5-week program that includes 2 hours of practical and fun activities each week to assist new migrants become familiar with Queensland road rules and to become confident and competent Learner drivers. An opportunity is provided during the course to sit the written Learner Driver test. The
program is open to eligible migrants who have never driven before, have an overseas license, or simply need to build their knowledge and confidence.

With access to a qualified driving instructor, the course includes both theoretical and practical competencies so that all of the road rules and signs can be and are understood.

Session 1: Introduction, giving way & signs

Session 2: Indicating, signaling, road markings & roundabouts

Session 3: Road safety & driving conditions

Session 4: Revision with Department of Transport Road Safety Officer. Sit Learner driver test.

Session 5: Presentation of certificates for participants. Lunch is provided this day.

  • Basic car maintenance
  • Hazards and dangerous driving conditions
  • Buying a car, Finance and Insurance

To pass the course all sessions must be attended. Please note that children are welcome to attend with their parents.
